Ingredients:
1 cup fine bulgur - cleaned
1 cup hot water
2 tsp salt divided
1 tbsp 7 spices (all spice) + ½ tsp
½ tsp cinnamon
1 diced onion
1/2kg lean ground beef
2-3 tbsp olive oil
¼ cup flour
6 boiled potatoes
Instructions:
In a bowl, combine bulgur with hot water and let it sit for 10 minutes until the water is fully absorbed.
Mash potatoes in a separate bowl, then mix in bulgur, flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of seven spices until well blended.
In a pan, warm up 1 tablespoon of olive oil, then sauté onions until they become tender.
Add ground beef, along with 1 teaspoon of salt, ½ teaspoon of seven spices, and a pinch of cinnamon. Cook until the beef is fully browned, then set aside.
Preheat the oven to 425°F.
Grease a 9x13 baking dish with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and spread half of the potato mixture evenly.
Use water to prevent the mixture from sticking to your hands.
Layer the cooked beef mixture on top.
Cover with the remaining potato mixture, again using water to aid in spreading and prevent sticking.
Score the top to create a diamond pattern.
Drizzle olive oil over the surface.
Cover the dish and bake for 20 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes or until the top turns golden brown.
